A while back, I decided to join Twitter. Now that I have, I’m completely hooked. I even downloaded Twhirl after Mace suggested I use a Twitter client and after seeing Christine posting from it. I’ve been using it ever since. Makes it much easier to keep up with the new ‘tweets’.
I’ve been starting to follow more and more people. It makes it easier to follow conversations when they’re not one sided … LOL. And it jut so happens that most of the people I follow live in Houston. It’s all Christine’s fault. I started following her and Mace and started adding people she follows. Since she lives in Houston, she’s bound to follow people from there. Following their conversations makes me wish it was more techie up here. I know that there are geeks up here, but I just don’t know where to find them. I’ve done some searching from time to time for blogs from the area. But the only one I know of at this point is Mace. Maybe he knows of more. Or maybe I just need to get out of my apartment and start hanging out at coffee shops. LOL
But even if there a lot of geeks up here, I don’t think they’re as social as they are down in Houston. I was really jealous reading about the Twitter meetup they were having this past weekend. I would love to go to something like that. To meet people who blog and have Twitter accounts and are geeky like me. But until I find people like that up here, I’m living vicariously through them.
What really makes me jealous about following all these Houston Twitterers (is that a word? LOL) is their talk of coworking. OMG … I would love to be able to do that. While I don’t work for myself, I do work from home. I could really work anywhere that had wifi (I’d need a power source too because I have an external hard drive with my work laptop that would need to be plugged in). Being able to do that would solve my space issue and it would give me some much needed social contact. I did find out that there are people doing the coworking thing in Minneapolis, but that’s too far away for me. Maybe I should try to get something like that going up here. But I don’t know if there are others who would be interested in it. And I’m not the kind of person who would be good at getting it going. I’m too much of a follower.
I know … I sound like I hate living up here. Well … only during the winter. Other than that, it’s not a bad place. That’s why I still live here (that and ‘cuz my family and friends are here). But I do wish I knew more techy/geeky people. I wish I new the people whose blogs and Twitter feeds I read. So … if you live up around here (the Fargo, ND area) and you happen to be reading this and have a blog or Twitter feed, leave a comment with a link to it.
Now I have to go. It’s almost time for General Hospital (I love having SoapNet on digital cable …

Christine has declared today as a day to stop blurking. What the heck is a blurker? Well, as Christine defines it …
Blurker (BLUR-kur): n. 1. One who reads many blogs but leaves no evidence of themselves such as comments behind; a silent observer of blogs. 2. One who reads many blogs but has no blog of their own; a blog-watcher or blog voyeur.
I admit … I’m a blurker. I read a few blogs daily, but don’t comment much. I really don’t like to comment just to comment. I wanna have something to say that is on topic. But since Christine gave the go ahead to “come out and play”, I’m gonna. Probably not until after work … I’ve got some other stuff to do during my lunch hour. But be warned … if you have a blog that I read, be ready for a comment … LOL.
And since I’m going to stop blurking today, I want you to too. Come on … leave me a comment. Please. Don’t make me beg …
And if you have a blog, leave the link so I can stop by. I’m always on the lookout for more blogs to read.

I decided to sign up for Twitter tonite. Might as well jump off the cliff that everyone else has … LOL. I figure I can use that to rant or just small comments that don’t really warrant a full blog post. We’ll see how it goes. I know of 2 people who are on Twitter, and I’m already following them (Mace and Christine). Is there anyone else out there who’s reading this who is on Twitter and would like to be friends there … or follow each other or whatever it’s called? Check out the widget at the top of the sidebar on the right (look … over there –> ) to find me. They wouldn’t let me use my full ‘HighTechRedneckWoman’, so I’m just ‘HighTechRedneck’.
Now I’m off to find out what other cool things I can do with Twitter. It’s either that or fall asleep since there’s nothing on tv.

I stayed at work today for lunch instead of going home because of the snow we got earlier this week and the fact that is is about 16° out. I just thought it would be easier to stay … don’t have to let the car warm up and actually have time to eat … LOL.
To pass the time, I thought I would see where I rank on Google. Here’s what I found (as of 11:42am):
Search Terms: “high tech redneck woman”
Rank: #1
Search Terms: “hightech redneck woman”
Rank: #1
Search Terms: “hightech redneck”
Rank: #9
Search Terms: “high tech redneck”
Rank: #81 … way down there :G-frown:
Search Terms: “redneck woman”
Rank: waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down there. Not even in the first 20 pages.
Maybe I should start a campaign to get my rank up for this. :hmm:
Search Terms: “wxgal”
Rank: #1 … this is one of my other domains … my old blog is what is at #1
That boosts my self-esteem factor a little. I just wish I had more visitors to my sites. Maybe if I was more interesting, I would … LOL. Aren’t I nice to me.

I only signed up in October 2004. I finally hit $100 in January 2007. That’s only 27 months. My sites aren’t very high traffic, are they … LOL. That money will come in handy though. Who doesn’t like money? LOL Now I just need to keep an eye on my account for it to be deposited. Then, after it is, I can close out that account.

For the past month or so on a Dale Jr message board I’m on, they’ve been talking about a new ’social networking’ website out there. But it’s not just another MySpace. It’s built as a race fan community. And I found out last weekend that Dale Jr is a part owner in the site. Talk about cool. So, I took the plunge and signed up.
The site is called Infield Parking. They don’t currently have as many features as MySpace does, but I believe they’re planning on adding more soon. They already have blogs for the drivers that are members (and there’s quite a few). I’m hoping they add them for regular members soon. I don’t know if I would post in it much since I’ve got this place. But I might post something now and then.
So, if you’re a race fan, head over and sign up. And even if you’re not, check out my Parking Place and let me know what you think. I’m still tweaking things and deciding what I want on there. I don’t want it to get too cluttered and obnoxious like some MySpace pages are (they’re out there … I know you’ve seen the ones I’m talking about). And this site is MUCH easier to customize than MySpace is … at least for me. The CSS for the stuff at Infield Parking is much more thought out and tweak-friendly.
Now, I need to get away from my computer. I didn’t get a chance to write up my grocery list last nite (I started a new project … cleaning up my financial records. Now I just need to get a paper shredder and go through my old records. I have stuff dating back to 1997), so I’d better get that done tonite.
