So little motivation.

I’ve been wanting to re-do this website and my professional/resume website for quite some time now. I keep coming up with ideas during the day when I’m at work, but when I get home … all motivation is gone. I don’t know if it’s because I’m working on other people’s websites all day long at work or if I’ve just become extremely lazy over the past couple years (I hope it’s the former).

I come home from work and the first thing that I do is sit down in front of the computer. And what is it that I do? I check my email, catch up on Twitter & Facebook, and all sorts of random shit. If I’m not sitting at my computer doing that, I’m on the couch staring mindlessly at the tv. Yeah … that helps me get my websites redone.

I’ve learned all sorts of things since I started my current job over 1 year and 9 months ago. I’ve learned new tricks and techniques for WordPress sites. I’ve been working with the CodeIgniter php framework and even built a custom CMS using it. I need to start using those things on my own websites to show off what I can do. And I’m not restricted with my own websites. I can trick ‘em out as much as I want (and tell IE users to go take a hike ).

So … what do I have in mind?

My Blog (this site)

I want to re-do this site from scratch, including posts. Now, that doesn’t mean I’m gonna get rid of the posts that are already here. I want to put them in an “archive” category so they’re still around. I just want them out of the main flow of the website.

I’ve always written my own themes. I don’t like using themes that other people are using or using a “framework” (like Thematic). Those frameworks have more crap than I ever plan to use. Why have all of that if it’s never gonna be used? And besides … I’m a web developer. I should be showing off what I can do.

One thing that I want do is to start using post formats. I’d like to add some link and posts for sure. Maybe some video ones too.

Another plan for this place is to start using html5. I know that not all browsers understand it yet, but there are scripts out there to help those poor little browsers (like IE) out. I’m going to eventually need to learn html5 and css3 anyway. I might as well play around with it on my own websites so that I know what I’m doing when it comes time to use them at work.

I also want to try to create a responsive theme … meaning you can still read my babble on your smartphone or tablet. That’s the way of the world now, isn’t it? So many people have iPhones or Android phones or iPads or other tablets. We’ve been talking about this at work. I might as well muck around with it here so I know what I’m doing when I get paid to do it.

My Professional Website

This site started out as my online resume when I got laid off back in Oct. 2008. I wanted to get my resume online and show off some scripts that I had written and the websites that I had worked on. It hasn’t changed since I put it online. It’s all basically static files. The items in my portfolio are in a MySQL database. But there is no CMS for making updates. I want to change that.

I’ve wanted to create an admin system for it for quite some time. Since I’ve been doing it at work for so long now (and even wrote my own custom CMS), I want to put that into play here. I want to make it easier for me to update things so that I’ll actually add new info to it. I want this to be a “showoff” site for what I can do.

I did start the redesign process a while back. I started mocking up the admin system. But that’s as far as it got. I keep coming up with ideas during the work day. I need to keep that fire going when I get home so that I can get this done.

As with my blog, I want this site to use html5 and css3 and have a responsive design. I want people to look at it and say “wow! she really knows her shit.”.

While I have no intention to leave my job any time soon (and I hope they want to keep me around), I wouldn’t mind some freelance work. Extra money for my house fund is always appreciated. And maybe the additional skills I gain while setting up this site will get me a raise at work since I’d have those skills available to awesome-ize client websites.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in the weather. Somewhere around junior high, I decided that I wanted to go to college for meteorology.

I remember a family trip to Kasota, MN (in southern MN) … Mom, Dad, sister, Grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I don’t remember exactly when this was, but it had to have been when I was in either 6th or 7th grade. We had a caravan headed down there. I don’t remember a lot about that trip other than the actual trip down there. I’m not sure where the weather started, but it was interesting for the majority of the trip. We stopped at a gas station or truck stop in Sauk Centre, and I remember pouring rain and lightning that seemed to almost hit us. It seemed like in every little town we went through, we heard the tornado sirens going off as we left town. We made another pit stop in Sleepy Eye, MN. I stayed in the car while everyone else went in. I heard them say on the radio that there was a tornado headed toward town. And sure enough, as we were leaving, we heard the sirens go off. It was like the storms were chasing us all the way there. We managed to stay ahead of the bad stuff, thankfully.

I think that was where my love of severe weather was born.

I went to college at the University of North Dakota (Go Sioux!!!) for meteorology. I was interested in the research side of things. I did work study (with my advisor). We were looking into the radar coverage in NW North Dakota, and how forecasting info might be affected if the Williston NWS office was closed. I looked at a lot of radar data.

Unfortunately, that was about as involved as I got while I was there. I did go to meetings of the student AMS (American Meteorological Society). Looking back now, I wish I had tried to get involved at RWIS (Regional Weather Information Center), which was right on campus. Maybe if I had, things would have turned out differently.

In the summer of ’97 (and again in ’98), I was an intern on a weather modification product in western ND. I really enjoyed that. We had our own radar on site, and we used it to guide airplanes around thunderstorms so they could seed it to either make it rain more or to lessen the size (and damage) of hail. I even got to go up in one of the planes once while they were on a mission. Some might think it’s crazy to fly a little 4-6 seater airplane around a thunderstorm, but I loved being in that plane. Yeah, we did get caught in a downdraft at one point and dropped like 500 ft in a matter of a few seconds … but I would have gone up again, if I could have.

I graduated with a BS in Meteorological Studies in ’98. I remember wanting to go to grad school at the University of Oklahoma. I honestly don’t remember what changed my mind.

I ended up getting a job with the company who ran that weather modification project. I worked there for 4½ years. But I was little more than a glorified office assistant. I was in charge of gathering the data from the various field projects, and putting reports together. But anyone could have done that. I did get to go to a project site in Oklahoma City for a week at one point. But, wouldn’t you know it (with my luck), there wasn’t a drop of rain the entire time I was there.

When I got laid off from that job at the end of 2003, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. I looked into getting a weather related job, but with my lack of experience, I was all but screwed. I ended up getting a job as a web programmer in June 2004. And that other life was history.

I am still working as a web programmer. And don’t get me wrong … I love what I do (despite the tight deadlines as of late). But there is still a part of me that longs to be doing something related to the weather. When storms come around, I am taken back to that family trip to Kasota. Only this time, I want to be chasing the storms.

I found out early last week that Reed Timmer was going to be in Hillsboro to give a talk today. If you don’t know who Reed is, he’s a storm chaser. He’s on the show Storm Chasers on the Discovery Channel.

I almost didn’t go. I couldn’t find anyone who wanted to go with me, and I didn’t want to go by myself. But I knew (with my history) that if I didn’t go, I would never forgive myself. So … I sucked it up and went … by myself. And I’m glad I did.

Reed & Joel (one of his partners) were supposed to be coming. It turned out that Joel didn’t end up coming. It would have been nice to meet Joel too, but oh well. When Reed got there, they drove (he wasn’t the one driving though) the Dominator into the gym where the event was being held. Very cool. I didn’t have to go out in the cold to check the thing out.

I walked around the Dominator a little and took some pictures of it. There were too many people around it to get as close of a look as I wanted. Then I jumped in line to get my pic taken with Reed. I didn’t have anything for him to autograph, but I’d rather than a picture than a scribbled name on a piece of paper. I hate how I look, but at least I have proof that I met him.

Here are some of the pics I snapped. I didn’t take a whole lot of pics. My camera really didn’t like the lighting in the gym. I did take a few videos of Reed’s presentation. I probably won’t put ‘em up anywhere though.

During his presentation, he showed video clips from some of his chases. Some footage I had seen on the show, and some was raw footage that wasn’t on the show. Watching those video clips renewed my desire for the weather … for severe storms. I am so tired of winter … of all of this damn snow. I long for a good lightning show … for some house rattling crashes of thunder … to watch the storm clouds roll in.

Reed said that he has a feeling that they’ll be doing a lot of chasing in the northern plains this year, based on the fact that it is a La Niña year. You have no idea what I would give to go chasing with him … whether in the Dominator or not. To just go chasing at all. Obviously, I can’t go chasing by myself. I’d end up in the ditch because I’d be watching the weather rather than the road. And I don’t know anyone who would want to go chasing with me … and be the one driving. If I happen to see the Dominator driving through town, I just might find myself following them. But not too close. I don’t think my little Honda would survive a tornado.

An unforeseen side effect of going to the talk is that it made me question where I am today. I went to school for 4 years … spent around $10,000 to get a degree in meteorology. And I’m working as a web programmer (and I’ve never had a single class in the field).

It really is crazy how where you are isn’t where you thought you’d be. But even though I’m not a meteorologist like I thought I would be, the desire is still there. I still get excited when I hear thunder, when I smell rain. I didn’t fail. I just found something else that fit me better for a career. I didn’t lose the desire that I had back in junior high. It’s still there … in my heart.

It seems like that since I started working full time as a web developer/programmer, I have neglected my own websites. It has been really bad over the past few years. I don’t even blog very much any more. I’ve basically been doing all of my ranting and raving on Twitter and Facebook and haven’t been giving my own websites any attention. I spend 8 hours (or 9 hours this summer) working on other people’s websites and don’t really wanna work on mine when I get home.

I’m trying to change that. I’ve deactivated my Facebook account, and I’m taking a break from Twitter for a while. I know I’ll eventually go back to Twitter, but as for Facebook, I’m not sure. I might reactivate my account and I might delete it completely … I just don’t know yet. Since I’m taking a break from social media, I’ll have more time on my hands, and I plan to use that time on my websites.

Tonite I put together a list of things that I want to do. They are (roughly in order that I want to accomplish them):

Clean up the files I have on the server with my web host (get rid of stuff I’m no longer using).

Clean up my database (again, get rid of stuff I’m no longer using).

Decide what I want to do with the subdomains that I have set up (keep, redirect, or remove).

Clean up my email accounts and forwarders (again, get rid of stuff I’m no longer using).

Redesign the layout for this website.

Start this site over from scratch in WP3 and import the posts and comments I have to this point.

Possibly redesign the layout for my professional website.

Start my professional website over from scratch using CodeIgniter.

Do further development on the weather script I wrote a few years back.

Possibly write a WP plugin based on my weather script (once I complete it).

Blog more about the stuff that I’ve been doing at work with CodeIgniter.

That list should keep me busy for a while. LOL Now I just need to get myself to turn off the tv so I don’t have any distractions.

Wish me luck.

After I redesigned this place the last time (back in September, I had such high hopes of blogging more often and blogging about techie stuff. It’s now March, and this is only my 2nd post of the year, and no techie/geekie stuff. Yeah … I’m burning up the place. LOL

Since I’m back working again (just over 4 months at the new place) and coding every day, I have ideas race through my head for things I want to do with my own websites. Unfortunately, those ideas are racing while I’m at work, and by the time I get home, they’re gone. I need to start writing ‘em down I think. I’ve been using the CodeIgniter framework a lot. I keep trying to think of things I could do with it.

I’ve also dabbled in writing a Facebook app for a project at work. It’s a relatively simple one, as far as Facebook apps go … no interaction with the user or anything like that. I still had issues getting things set up initially, but that’s probably because I jumped in with both feet rather than reading documentation first. Oh well. I learn best by doing anyway. I’d love to come up with a Facebook app on my own, but I’m not sure what to do. The only thing that I can come up with is a weather widget. I started laying one out for my own websites already. I could create a script that can be plugged in to a regular website, a WordPress plugin, and a Facebook app. I just need to get my butt in gear. It’s hard to get motivated to work on my own websites after working on other people’s sites all day at work. But then again, I am usually sitting at the computer all nite anyway. I might as well do something useful rather than reading Twitter and Facebook and other mindless surfing.

We use WordPress quite a bit at work. I don’t deal with it since I’m the programming geek (php & MySQL), but I see what is being done by my co-workers. It makes me want to work on this place again. One thing I’ve never dabbled with is widgets. I usually just hard code the stuff I want in the sidebar since I’m just doing the site for myself. But I’ve seen what can be done with widgets and it makes me wanna give it a try.

There was a time where I was doing a lot of WP development. Yeah, it was just for myself, but I knew what was going on and what I could do. It’s been so long since I’ve done anything serious with WP. Even when I redesigned last, I didn’t delve into things I could have. I really wanna dive back in, but I feel so far behind. So many advances have been made to the core. I happened run across a site for a WordCamp in the cities. I’m seriously considering going. I think one of my co-workers wants to as well. It’s not until November, so we’ve got a while to make a decision. Anyone else considering going to it?

I’ve got a pretty sweet setup going on now (well, considering what I’ve had in the past anyway). I added memory to my laptop (from 1GB to 4GB), and I upgraded to Windows 7 (which I LOVE). I even got a new monitor that’s hooked up to my laptop (21.5″ widescreen). The dual monitor setup is perfect for development (I wish I had dual monitors at work). I still use WAMP server for local development. I even found out about a program (from my boss) that gives me a GUI for my local MySQL databases (HeidiSQL). I have no excuse not to work on my own websites (other than the fact that I’ve turned into a lazy ass).

So … be on the lookout (I’ve said that before, haven’t I ). I really will try to post more here. As with the ideas I have for my websites during the day, I have ideas for posts that never materialize (I think I need to carry a notebook with me to work … or just use Google Docs). I need to be better about that. I need to stop procrastinating and being lazy. I really hope I can follow through.

Tomorrow will end my first week of work at my new job. Things have been going good and the people are nice. I don’t feel like an outsider like I have at other jobs. I’ve finished up one project and have started another.

It feels soooooo good to be working with php again. For the past year, (at the 2 contract jobs I had) I was working strictly with html and css, mainly html emails. While I don’t mind working with css, I enjoy working with php and sql so much more. And not only am I working with php again, I’m even learning a new framework, CodeIgniter. It’s what they use at work.

I had my first taste of it today when I started on a new project. I think I’ll pick it up pretty quickly. While I haven’t used a framework before, I have worked with a “layer” concept at a previous job. We had separate directories for database, presentation, and domain layers. CodeIgniter has model, view, and controller “layers”. What I really like about CodeIgniter is the fact that you can put together an array of data in the controller layer to send to the view layer, and in the view layer, you have variables that have the names of the keys from the array that was passed to it. Or at least as far as I can tell, that’s how it is.

I’ve even been in a good, upbeat mood the past couple days. I really noticed it today. I don’t know if it’s just because I’m out of my apartment or it’s because I’m back working (with something I really enjoy even) or it’s just things turning back around in my favor. I’m not going to analyze it, and I’m definitely not going to take it for granted (or at least I’m going to try my damnedest).

Hopefully this means I’ll have a good birthday this year (it’s next Saturday). Now I just need to figure out what I’m gonna do to celebrate it.

Tomorrow will be 2 months since my last day of work on my last contract job (the one that the company ended early [for financial reasons]). As I mentioned a few days ago, there haven’t been all that many opportunities around the Fargo area … at least not opportunities that have peaked my interest. A couple of hours after I posted that entry I received an email from a company that I had applied to a while back. They wanted to schedule an interview. That interview was this morning.

I thought that the interview went well. It’s a small company, but I worked at a small company before. The work is exactly what I’m looking for. It’s a php/MySQL specialist type position. Obviously since it’s a small company, there would be work in other areas as well, but it would be focused in php and MySQL development. The person who conducted the interview said that he was impressed with my skills, especially since I never went to school for web development.

The only down side to the situation is that they’re not entirely certain yet that they are going to fill the position. He said that he needs to assess their workload to see if they can justify the position. He said that he should know by the middle of November (that would be a good birthday present ), and if they decided to fill the position, they would do so before the end of November.

So I guess that means that I’m still in a holding pattern. I’m still looking for opportunities in the area. But at least there’s a possibility out there … there’s still hope that I won’t have to leave the area.

Some time during junior high and high school (I believe it was when I was in the 7th grade) I made a choice to pursue a career in weather. I honestly don’t remember what spawned that choice. It might have been a family trip to southern Minnesota where we were chased by tornadoes almost the entire way down. I remember tornado sirens going off as we would pass through towns, and when we made a pit stop in Sleepy Eye, I heard on the radio that there was a tornado headed toward town.

Based on this choice, I went to UND and pursued a degree in meteorology. After graduating from UND I took a job at a company where I was a “meteorologist”. Why the quotes? The job was more of an office assistant than a meteorologist. I did put together reports from field projects, but I didn’t do anything weather related during my 4½ years there.

I was laid off from this company in December 2003 (they eliminated the position). This brought me to a point where I had to make another choice. At the time, I wasn’t really sure what to do. I had taken over the company’s website, so there was one option. Another option was an office/administrative assistant. I was actually one of the final two candidates for an administrative assistant position with Pepsi Co. in town. They ended up going with the other individual, but that was actually the best thing that could have happened to me. I decided to pursue the web development option, which landed me with a smaller local company. I worked at the company for about 3½ years until they closed their doors. At that time, I went to work directly for the final client that the company had. I was with that company until October of last year when I was laid off due to budget cuts (thanks to our lovely economy that still hasn’t recovered).

There was no need to make a choice at that point. I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to continue in the field of web development. I just needed to find another job. I managed to find two contract positions. The second of those was supposed to turn into a permanent position, but thanks to our lovely economy, my contract was ended (3 months) early (and 17 other people were laid off).

This brings us to the present and another choice that I must make. This choice has not been easy for me. It has nothing to do with my choice of careers. I am now, more than ever, confident that I want to continue working in the field of web development. The choice is “where am I going to work?”. I’ve been struggling with this for the past two months (or more actually). There really aren’t many positions around the region (ND/MN/SD) that aren’t .NET or Java or some other language/technology that I don’t have experience in. I’m looking for php/sql based positions since that’s where my experience/background is.

I know that I need to look outside of my “comfort zone”. I just really don’t know where or how to start. I have looked for opportunities in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, but haven’t really found any that excited me. I don’t want to take a job somewhere only to find out that I’m not happy wherever the job is. I did apply for a position in Edmond, OK, but I still haven’t heard anything back (and I was a little excited about the position and the location).

It has been almost two months since my contract was ended, and I’m basically still at square one. I know that there are people out there who have been out of work for much longer than that (in fact, I was unemployed for about 7 months when I switched from a career in a weather related field to a career in the web development field [that was almost 6 years ago]); however, my savings will only last so long, and I’m not collecting unemployment.

I have found one position that is in line with the type of work that I’m looking for. I don’t know the name of the company because the position is through a job agency (and they won’t tell me until an interview is scheduled), but that isn’t really that big of a deal at this point. The thing that has me delaying pursuing it is the salary. Their high end is lower than my low end. It would be a $6/hr pay cut from my last position and a $3/hr pay cut from the position before that. While I don’t expect to start at a new job at the same pay rate as the one my last contract was with, I still have my acceptable range. This one is below that. BUT … the position is a permanent position, not a contract one. AND … if they have decent benefits and are progressive about reviews and pay raises, then this could be a good opportunity. But I was told that they are looking for more of an entry level developer, and with my experience, I don’t consider myself entry level any more (at least not when it comes to php/sql development). I have not written this option off yet. The only down side that I really see (at this point) is the pay. But even if I do pursue it, there’s no guarantee that I would get it.

So that brings me back to my current choice. Do I pursue this position (so that I can stay here), or do I put on my “big girl pants” and seriously start looking for something out of state? I’m really struggling with this one. I need to do what’s best for me … but I have no idea what that is. I just wish I would have an epiphany or would see a sign and know which path to follow … which choice to go with. I’m tired of struggling with this choice. But … at least I know what I want to do. Now I just need to make a choice as to where.

… at my new job. Well, it was only 3 days, but So far so good. And I like it. It’s a small office, I think there are 9 of us total, including me (the IT department is only 3, including me). The company has offices in other locations, so it’s not a small company.

I’ve even gotten to do actual work already. I’ve made some updates to the websites and put together an email (from scratch … I didn’t even have a psd – I had to grab the graphics from a pdf file). It’s all been front end work so far, but I should be able to do things with php and even sql at some point. I’m still getting my feet wet on how the company does things. As of right now, I still believe it was the right decision for me.

There are 2 things about the job that I don’t like … but it has nothing to do with the company or the work. This is a contract to hire position (with the very strong possibility that it will become permanent after 6 months … perhaps sooner). The agency the contract is through required PAPER timecards, and they don’t do direct deposit. So Monday lunches will entail driving to the agency to drop off my timecard and Friday mornings (hopefully … they open at 7:30am) will entail driving to the agency to pick up my check and then Friday lunches will entail going to the bank to deposit my paycheck. It’s a little inconvenient, but I’m not gonna complain (too much … LOL). At least I’m working again.

I was unemployed for a total of 42 days. I guess that’s not that long a period, considering I was unemployed for about 7 months way back in 2003-04 when I switched careers (from meteorologist to web developer). And with the economy the way it is, it could have been a lot longer. I got lucky … this opportunity opened up, and a couple of people I used to work with had worked for the company at one time or another (I actually replaced someone that I used to work with).

As I said, things are going good as of right now. My supervisor even thanked me today for the effort I’ve been putting in the past couple days. I guess it’s a good thing to impress ‘em right out of the gate. I just can’t wait ’til I get to start working with php and sql (whichever flavor) again.

While I wait to hear back from the job opportunity I interviewed for last week and the job opportunity I applied for yesterday, I need a project to keep me occupied. I only really have one idea for what that project should be. I’ve already done something similar with this idea, but I thought I would take it a step further this time around.

What is the idea? Well, it’s a weather widget. Yes, there are lots of weather widgets already out there on the web, but there’s no rule anywhere saying I can’t add one more to the mix.

My previous stab at this idea was just for my own personal use on my own websites. It displayed the current conditions only for Fargo. This time I want to create something that others can download and add to their own websites. I also want it to allow for customization of the location of the conditions by the person who is viewing the website that the widget is on, and I want it to remember that customization.

I intend to use the NWS XML feeds for the data source. That’s what I was using for my first version of this widget. I trust the data from the NWS. I see them as an official source. I know that there are other sources out there that might have more data points, but I prefer the NWS, so that’s what I’m gonna use.

I’ve already created a brief outline of what I want to accomplish. I even started sketching out the database schema over the weekend. Now I just need to force myself to sit at the computer and work on it. I definitely could use the distraction while I’m waiting. Once I have things finished up, I’ll most likely add it to this site for download (with instructions of course). I don’t know if anyone else will want to use it, but it will be good for me to put this together. And it will be something nice to add to my portfolio.

As I mentioned earlier today, I've been learning about jQuery at work during my spare time. I read some documentation on the jQuery website and went through some tutorials both on that site and on others. I've learned quite a bit since I started.

I wanted to share something that I thought was pretty cool. If nothing else, I wanted to save it for later reference for myself. And if someone else finds it useful, that's even better.

Let's say that you add classes to the links you have on your website (whether it's a blog or just a normal website) to indicate external links, such as the following:

PLAIN TEXT

HTML:

<a href="http://www.url1.com" class="external">Link 1</a><br />

<a href="http://www.url2.com">Link 2</a><br />

<a href="http://www.url3.com" class="external">Link 3</a><br />

<a href="http://www.url4.com">Link 4</a><br />

Let's also say that you want to add either text or an image to the external links to indicate to your readers that they are links that will take them away from your website. Since they are external links, you probably also want to open the links in a new browser window.

Of course, you can always manually add the text or image after the external links, and you can add target="_blank" or target="windowname". But that just adds more work for you to do. And what if you're lazy?

Well, with jQuery, you can leave your links coded as above and add some code to do the rest of the work for you.

The first think you need to do is include the jquery.js file. If you're looking into jQuery, you probably are familar with how to set up an html page and include that file, so I'm not going to include that code (even though it is only one line).

You then have 2 options ... include the following code between some <script> tags directly on your page or create a separate javascript file and include that. I tend to do that latter to keep my pages clean. Now for the code ...

PLAIN TEXT

JAVASCRIPT:

}

Now let's go through the pieces.

PLAIN TEXT

JAVASCRIPT:

$(document).ready(function() {

This piece of code is a pretty basic part of jQuery (from what I understand). It is a wrapper (of sorts) that you put around the rest of your code. It's sort of like window.onload() only better. It makes your code available as soon as the DOM has finished loading. This means that your code can be executed before any images you have on the page while window.onload() doesn't (at least I think that's the case ... I'm no javascript expert).

PLAIN TEXT

JAVASCRIPT:

// add your text or image to the end of the link

$("a.external").append("*");

This does what the comment says it does. It finds all of the links that have a class of "external" and adds the text (or image code) to the end of it.

PLAIN TEXT

JAVASCRIPT:

// make the link open in a new window

$("a.external").click(function(){

    window.open(this.href);

    return false;

});

This code binds the custom "click" function to the links that have a class of "external". The custom function just opens the url that is in the href attribute in a new window. The return false just keeps the current browser window from following the link.

That's it. It's that simple. I really hope I didn't confuse you completely with my explanation. I also hope that I did the jQuery justice by explaining it the way I did (hopefully correctly). I'm going to try working this into this site some time soon ... at least the image indicators.

I may be doing more posts like this in the future as I find other tidbits that I find useful. They might be simple like this one is, and they may be more complex. It just depends on what I find useful. So consider yourself warned.

Side note: Wow. This is my third post (here) today. And I even posted an entry on my other blog. That makes this my fourth post in one day. I think this is some sort of record. LOL
