Fitness Program: Day 1 – Slow Start

I started my fitness program today. I had planned to get up early and go for 10 minutes on the elliptical. Well … that didn’t exactly happen. I was way too comfy in bed, so I didn’t get up. I thought … I’ll start tomorrow. Well, I actually started after I got home from work (well, after a little detour* back to Scheels). I hopped on the elliptical for 10 minutes on a resistance level of 1. Like I said … I’m gonna start slow. I don’t wanna kill myself. And after that first 10 minutes, I realized it’s going to be slower going than I had hoped. I probably won’t bump up the time for at least a week, if not 2.

The biggest thing that bothered me, which really surprised me, was that my feet hurt the most. I thought my shoes were in good shape. Maybe I’ll need to get a better pair … one with more support. I’ll see how it goes for a couple of days before I decide. Besides … I don’t get paid until Friday.

I also need to work on my nutrition plan. Right now, I don’t really have one. LOL I haven’t been eating well … especially the past month when I was working overtime at work to get the project we were working on done. I’d get home around 7 or 7:30 and just not wanna cook. And I’ve been eating TV dinners for lunch because they’re quick. I’m changing that this week. I’ve got some deli meat (ham, turkey, roast beef) in the fridge, and I made a pasta salad (with summer sausage and mozzarella cheese and Italian dressing) yesterday. Besides balancing my diet better, I need to learn portion control. I’m REALLY BAD with portions.

So … I’ve got my work cut out for me. But I’m going to stick with it this time. I didn’t buy that elliptical to turn it into an expensive clothes rack. I’ll post updates as I go along. Wish me luck. :crossfingers:

* I had to stop at Scheels because I realized last nite that the water bottle holder that was supposed to be on my elliptical wasn’t there. I called at lunch, and he said he found it. There was also a $10 gift card in the bag with the bottle holder and bottle. What a nice little surprise. It said “Sorry for the inconvenience” on the back. So I guess I’ll have to go back at some point and use it.

  1. It takes a while to get used to it. Believe me it was very
hard at first, but you do get used to it.
