What I did on my summer vacation

You’d think that since I was on vacation last week, I would have blogged … at least once. But no. I’ve become such a bad blogger. Or maybe it’s just that I’m too boring … LOL.

I didn’t really do much on my vacation. Didn’t go anywhere. I did some shopping that I needed to do on Monday and Tuesday. Lisa came up Wednesday and we went to the concerts at the fair on Thursday nite. It was a late nite … and a hot day/evening … but it was fun. We were about 2nd/3rd row center for the concerts. I only really wanted to see Emerson Drive. I hadn’t heard much of Chris Young and I never really paid attention to Julie Roberts. Well … Chris Young now has a new fan. First off … he’s HOT (the pic is of Chris and his new friend Steve*).

Second … he has an awesome voice. Third … I LOVE his songs. My favorite is one that he’s putting on his new CD … Once You Go Cowboy. That is SO my song. I’ve had a thing for cowboys for quite some time now. Eventually (maybe … hopefully) I’ll get me one of my own.

I tried to buy his CD today, but they didn’t have it at Target and it was out of stock at Best Buy. They won’t have it in stock until the end of the week. I might venture to Wally-World to see if they have it. Otherwise I’ll order it from Chris’ website (that way I can get it autographed).

As for Julie Roberts … I still don’t like her. I could have done without her. I know that’s not nice to say … but I really didn’t care for her.

And Emerson Drive was awesome. I got to see them (and meet them .. thanks Froggy … ribbet ribbet) last year at RibFest. I took a TON of pics. I still need to go through them and lighten some up and then put them up in my photo gallery. I’ll post an update when I get that done. Not sure when that will be. Brad (the lead singer) said something about coming back to the area every year. I sure hope he meant it. I know they used to play at Pistol Pete’s way back when … back before I started going there. I wish I had seen them then. So I think they like the area.

Friday nite was Mona and Allen’s wedding rehearsal. Lisa and I were just personal attendants for Mona, so we didn’t really have to do anything but sit there. The wedding was Saturday. We got to the church about 11:30 to help where needed. I am so glad it wasn’t an outdoor wedding. It was hot and muggy. And the bride’s room wasn’t air conditioned (or anything else downstairs). It was a short ceremony but really nice. Mona made me tear up when she gave her mom a rose and a hug. She was crying so it was hard not to tear up. The reception and dance were nice too. The reception hall was air conditioned thankfully. It was actually kind of cold in there at first. I think they finally turned the AC down after the bridal party got there. I got a bunch of pics to go through for that as well.

That’s basically my vacation. I could have used another day so I could have slept in. I could have used it this morning.

* I wanted to explain who Steve is. Someone behind us at the concert threw a stuffed lion (in the pic) up on stage. Chris picked it up and named it almost immediately. He said that he’d give Steve his own MySpace page. I’m still waiting for him to do that.
